What is QuietRock 530?
QuietRock 530 is part of PABCO Gypsum’s QuietRock family of sound-damping drywall panels.

Choose QuietRock 510 when

QuietRock 530 for home theaters
A home theater can justify moving above an ordinary residential wall system because sound levels are higher and subwoofers introduce more low-frequency energy.
QuietRock 530 can contribute useful damping and mass.
But if the project involves extremely powerful low-frequency sound, compare it with QuietRock 545 and with more complete decoupled wall systems.
The wall surface is only one part of theater isolation.
Doors, ventilation, ceiling structure, flooring and flanking paths can become just as important.
Can QuietRock 530 go over an existing wall?
Retrofit use can be possible when the existing construction and fastening design permit it.
Adding a damped, relatively heavy gypsum layer can improve an existing wall without completely rebuilding the framing.
Before doing that, however, identify whether the current weak point is actually the wall surface.

- sealing gaps;
- replacing a hollow-core door;
