A foam liner is not the same as a vibration damper
Closed-cell foam commonly serves as a cushion, spacer or decoupling layer. A foil-facing may be useful in a correctly designed thermal installation. Neither alone proves that a car door’s metal panel will be effectively damped; that function is usually assessed separately for a constrained-layer damping material. If your primary complaint is booming sheet-metal resonance, determine whether the panel first needs appropriate damping rather than adding foam everywhere.
